YMCA Family Camp Nawakwa is 180 acres of unspoiled natural beauty in the Lac du Flambeau / Minocqua region of northern Wisconsin. The camp is nestled in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, which is home to the Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. Situated on Big Crooked and Little Sugarbush Lakes, Nawakwa is surrounded by pristine forests with abundant wildlife and offers a peaceful setting for all ages to enjoy.

Family Camp Nawakwa was founded in 1923 and was originally developed as a men's and boy's camp. In the 1930's, the camp leadership believed it was better suited as a summer family camp. Today, Family Camp Nawakwa serves groups and families all year long who travel from across the United States and even fly over seas just to be a part of this enchanting camp experience. It's not just renting a cabin for a week or weekend, but joining a community that holds friends near to their hearts. Many families have been attending for multiple generations and we welcome new families every year! The retention rate is high because there are few places left where the environment is serene, wildlife is majestic, and everyone knows and appreciates their neighbor. The Camp Staff is comprised of many backgrounds who are excited to share this camping experience with families. Most summers there are international counselors who join the team and have the chance to share their culture with campers and learn American cultures too. Families welcome you to their campfires and make you feel like a member of their family!
