TISC’s Progression Program is our flagship instructional program that develops sailing skills in a fun, safe and approachable environment, for sailors 6-17 years old.

Through the lens of sailing small boats independently, sailors will learn important life skills like communication and goal setting, and practice our values of Growth, Resilience, Integrity and Teamwork (GRIT).

Using nationally standardized, age-appropriate curricula and variety of fun boats and teaching tools, participants gain valuable skills on the water that last a lifetime and prepare them for sailing anywhere.

Leadership Programs at TISC expose teen sailors to special aspects of our sport and challenge students to step outside their comfort zone. Participants choose from 3 tracks to explore different facets of our sport:

1) Learn to Race – Sailors learn the basics of dinghy racing in our Intro to Racing class, and practice skills for competition
2) Learn to Teach – Learn what it takes to be a Sailing Coach in our Instructor-in-Training class and prepare to take your Instructor certification
3) Learn Keelboats – Junior Big Boat class brings sailors onto our J/24s to learn the differences between dinghies and these larger and heavier boats

Plus, motivated sailors who pursue the Learn to Teach track will receive training to complete the US Sailing Instructor Certification and be offered paid employment as a Sailing Coach with TISC!
