Peconic Dunes 4-H Camp is coeducational offering overnight and day programs to youth ages 6 - 16 years of age that include trekking, garden and environmental/marine science, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, archery, basketball, soccer, softball, swimming, campfires. As part of 4-H and Cornell University Cooperative Extension, Peconic Dunes takes a research-based approach to summer camp. Our goal is to develop age-appropriate Skills, Knowledge, Attitudes, and Aspirations (SKAAs) in each camper. We accomplish this through the adoption of nationally recognized programs, like American Canoe Association, American Red Cross, US Sailing, and 4-H Programs of Distinction. Campers are introduced to most activities throughout the week and can choose to focus on particular activities for longer periods of time. Each activity offers many "Challenges" to campers, which is intended to encourage campers to ask their instructors or peers for guidance.
