The Northern Arizona University Centennial Forest offers unique environmental science education programs in an overnight summer camp experience for kids ages 9-17 years old. Using a stair step approach, campers build on knowledge each year while exploring the beautiful ponderosa pine forest surrounding Flagstaff, Arizona. Our goal is to have fun while connecting kids to the forest and the natural world. Campers engage in hands-on lessons learning about wildlife, trees, wilderness survival, and forest fires – all while making new friends! Not only do kids learn about forestry and environmental science, they go hiking, play games, go on field trips, practice archery, and learn about how they can care for our world’s natural resources. Ages 9-10 are encouraged to start with the Junior Forester Academy; ages 11-12 attend the Senior Forester Academy; ages 13-14 attend the Outdoor Leadership Academy, and finally, campers ages 15+ graduate into the Counselor in Training/Junior Counselor programs.
