Fashion Camp at the University of South Carolina is an educational and fun way to see if kids would like a career in the fashion industry. The one week camp held June 10-14 2013 at the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Marketing teaches kids aged 10-18 all the basics about fashion design and clothing construction, giving them a new hobby, an outlet for their creativity and maybe an important career direction. During the week, all the campers design and make an entire outfit as well as jewelry, bags and other accessories - all of which they will model at the end of the week for a professional photography session as well as a fashion show - part of Columbia Style Week. They all have professional hair and makeup done for these events. They also learn how to re-design and renovate existing clothing giving them a cost-effective way to upgrade their wardrobe and re-think the way they buy clothes. Regular weekly classes for kids and adults are also offered throughout the year on request. These skills are great for your kids' self-confidence, artistic expression and as an engrossing leisure pursuit during weekends and holidays. A week at Fashion Camp at USC could inspire a lifetime of arts, crafts and design.
