We believe that we can make the world better by helping people learn to live and work together. We run playful, inclusive outdoor adventures in wild places that offer meaningful experiences with life-long impact. With a focus on Northern Michigan and Canada, we offer backpacking, canoeing, sea kayaking, biking, sailing, winter camping (skiing/snowshoeing), caving, and more.

Participant involvement is vital to Crystalaire Adventures. Participants help plan and prepare for trips, organize in daily activities and assist with daily chores including preparing meals, washing dishes, fetching water and making fires. We eat well on our trips, and we emphasize nutritional awareness and teach cooking skills to keep people healthy on expeditions that can last from 1 to 3 weeks.

We offer leadership education and leadership focused adventure programs, environmental education, and additional training and skills. Rather than emphasize traits that make great leaders, we encourage our participants to come to recognize and use the strengths they already have. In addition to increasing self-awareness, participants are given skills to help them understand differences in other people and how they can effectively work together. Crystalaire campers will leave with a much greater sense of connection to others, the world around them, and the skills required to work with others.

We focus on group interaction, making friends, having fun, being safe and enjoying beautiful natural surroundings. Through hiking, canoeing, backpacking, caving or kayaking our goal is to help campers foster a sense of belonging to the natural world and a feeling of wonder for the environment to which we belong. We aim to lead trips that are not about conquering mountains or pushing personal limits, but that help us discover what it feels like to sleep under the stars, come across a moose on a woodland trail, taste pancakes made over an open fire and sit around a campfire telling stories with friends.
