When asking campers, staff, and alumni what they think Cairn does really well, the answer is almost unanimously "Community". Living within an inclusive, accepting Christian community provides campers the feeling of safety and support that allows them to try something new, express their opinions, and learn from one other.

All camp programs offer a unit-based camping model, where campers spend time attending activities and building relationships within their cabin group, supervised and supported by two counsellors.

To maintain this safe and accepting community, in everything we do we abide by our 4S's:
Safety – Is it physically and emotionally safe?
Stewardship – Are you being a good steward of the earth?
Servanthood – Are you serving other people and our community?
Self-Esteem – Are you building someone’s self-esteem?
Asking these four questions empowers campers and staff to make good decisions, and know that what they are doing will positively impact our camping community.
