Since 1962 girls have come to Black River Farm and Ranch “the BR” to have fun with friends and horses and enjoy a variety of summer camp activities in a safe and stress free environment. The BR is located in the thumb area of Michigan and is the best summer camp around for girls who love horses. The BR is a family owned and operated camp for 3 generations

Imagine starting your day by bringing in your horse, grooming and saddling him then head off for your morning riding lesson, and that’s all before lunch! After lunch you can try your hand at tennis, camp crafts, boating on Lake Lorely, bottle feeding a new calf, and/or baby goat, or head back to the barn and saddle your horse for a ride through sunlit fields and wooded trails, go jumping on the trampolines... Also, wonderful farm food, picnics at the Outback, swimming in the beautiful pool that is heated and shaped liked a horse head, girl talk in the bunk house after lights out and hikes along the wooded banks of the stream. There is so much to do at Black River Farm and Ranch it is your answer to fun this summer!

Black River hires only exceptional girls who are exhibit leadership potential, caring personality, positive attitudes, and the love of camping to be a part of our BR family. All riding instructors are Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) Certified Ridining Instructors. Our staff and program exceed the standards set forth for ACA accreditation.

Session lengths vary from a starter camp (3 nights) to a 4 week camper session so that there is something for everyone. Mother Daughter Camper sessions have early registration discount - Register early for the best pricing.

Mother Daughter retreats are for everyone who loves the idea of summer camp. Campers you can share all the wonderful things Black River has to offer with your mom! Do you want your mom to understand why you love it so much? Are you alumni who wants to show your daughter how special BR is? Are you thinking about sending your daughter to camp but want to check it out yourself first? Well this is the weekend for you. Mother Daughter Retreat feels very much like our camper sessions so you will be able to share in the camp experience.
