Accepting students at all levels of french proficiency, the Barat Foundation teaches language through a combination of classes and workshops in the heart of Provence. Workshops address French conversation and literature, writing, art, cuisine, photography, cinema, dance and movement, and theater. Field trips to Aix en Provence, Avignon, Arles, the Mediterranean sea, Vaison la Romaine, Nice and more--including visits to monuments, churches, nature preserves, museums, nearby cities, local businesses, vineyards and theatrical performances--reinforce classroom language learning. Accommodations are in a fully equipped villa with swimming pool. Professors and teaching artists live on site providing a 24/7 learning environment. Community service program offers up to 40 hours of community service to students teaching English to French children. Co-ed students completing 8th through 12th grade may apply.
