Henry's Place Exists to Provide FREE Christian Summer Camp to At-risk or Underprivileged Youth.
Our goal by the end of each camp week is that every camper leaves as a Friend of Jesus. We take pride in our staff-to-camper ratios with 1 staff for every 2 campers, giving us powerful one-on-one times to help campers process through their situations and find where Jesus is at in their story. We focus heavily on individual impact and use group activities to facilitate experiential transformation.
We're different from other camps in that we invest intentionally in each of our staff members. We customize your camp experience based on what God has made you for, meaning that each week, we'll go over specific discipleship, development, growth, and career programs catered to you so that when you leave here, you'll be better equipped for what God has for you afterwards. Like other camps, our counselors will have the opportunity to ride horses, rappel, kayak, hike, and other fun activities during counseling weeks. Also, on every other weekend, we have "staff adventure days" where we'll go flying, caving, boating, or other adventurous activities. We live as a family during the 12 weeks of summer where you'll have food & board anything else that would make your summer better.
College Credits! We've typically been able to partner with every college our counselors have come from. Some of our counselors have gotten 9 college credits during our summer. Generally, we can make any degree program work and customize your internship or independent study classes work during Camp... and the best part is... you still get paid too!
Our main need is for Camp Counselors! We have 4 male and 4 female positions.
Pay is between $400-$500/week, depending on previous experience or a psychology/ social work degree.
The Camp Counselor has two roles: Counseling & "Support Staff." Counseling basically means that you're job is to be a friend of the campers. You're there to listen, counsel, encourage, and walk with them through the week as Jesus would. The support staff role is who sets up and runs the activities and also is in charge of cleaning, grounds, or kitchen on a rotating schedule. Both of these roles alternate week-by-week as you only counsel on the same gender weeks, which change each week.
Have Camp Experience Already?
There are some other roles we're looking for, both for down the road and this coming summer.
Assistant/Program Director ($750-$1000/wk + room & board)
This role would mirror the Camp/Program director's role in executing camp throughout the summer. We've found it's nearly impossible to be everywhere at the same time with one single camp director, so we're looking to have an assistant that will act as a "CO-DIRECTOR." This requires that you are familiar with camp life and are a mature Christian.
Maintenance/ Grounds ($300/wk + room & board)
Normally, our camp counselors and camp director are in charge of Maintenance, Grounds, and Cleaning throughout the week. This has been great for personal development and skills building, but it's difficult to maintain a high quality program if we're pulled in too many directions. This role would not be very intense and most likely would only require a handful of hours a day. Being familiar with basic construction, tractors, plumbing, groundskeeping, and things of that nature would be great.
Executive Director ($68,000 annual salary)
Our Executive Director is retiring, meaning we have a new need for an Exec who has familiarity in both business, networking, and camp life. If you're interested in this role, you should already know the basics of what it consists of and we can talk further about specific details with our camp.
