Hours: 29 hours/week
Schedule: 8a - 12:30p OR 12p-5:30p
This opportunity will give you the chance to develop valuable skills as you lead, support, engage, and motivate youth in our summer activity programs.
What you will be doing:
Enthusiastically lead and support participants through program activities.
Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules, prevent accidents, and identify inappropriate behaviors.
Proactively address and deescalate inappropriate behavior.
Provide corrective direction to help participants learn appropriate actions and to make positive behavioral choices.
Work with program coordinator and program staff to plan and coordinate activities.
Maintain, clean and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment.
Supervise children ranging from ages 5-12 years old.
Clean up after the children every shift.
Play games and other activities with the children.
Make sure the children are checked in and out by parents.
Nurture sharing, sportsmanship and other social skills.
Escort the children to the playground and ball fields.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 15 years old.
Have a current Child First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety & Health Institute, required before working with children or willingness to obtain.
Robust ability to actively lead and engage youth.
Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
Active listing skills and ability to relate to and provide fun, engaging, safe activities for youth of different backgrounds.
Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
Ability to be a positive role model for program participants.
