About

Located in Pennsylvaniaâ€™s beautiful Pocono Mountains, Island Lake Camp is a coed sleep-away camp established in 1986. We feature a 4-week and a 3-week session for our campers who range in age from 7-17. At Island Lake, we emphasize individualized programming to allow each camper to have their ideal summer experience.

Our counselors live in a comfortable, modern cabin with approximately 12 campers and two other counselors. Each of our bunk counselors is also a specialist who teaches in one of the 17 different Departments offered at Island Lake. We provide full room and board, including snacks, meals, laundry service, and travel reimbursement for everyone traveling to camp.

Staff at Island Lake come from countries worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Canada, Mexico, Hungary, Poland, the United States, and more. As a staff member, they undergo an immersive orientation before the children arrive for the summer.

We offer paid internships in multiple fields including education, animal care, coaching, media, hospitality, event planning, food service, and the arts. Island Lake will work directly with your colleges and universities to ensure you get the credits you deserve.

Dear Future Best Friend,

My name is Dustin, and I'm one of the Directors at Island Lake Camp. We're a co-ed sleep-away camp located in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains. Our campers range in age from 7-17. We're a choice-based camp which is a fancy way of saying our campers choose their activities.

Your job is two-fold. What does that mean? Well, that means that not only are you a bunk counselor, but you get to teach campers in one of our 16 Departments, aka The Best of Both Worlds!

At the end of the day, camp is about making sure the campers have the time of their lives. We strive to make this a reality. We play music. We dance. We tell jokes. We laugh. If I'm having fun and you're having fun, odds are the campers are having fun, and that's what it's all about!
